We believe that whether you are pre-planning your own arrangements, helping a grieving family member, or comparing service options, you shouldn't have to call dozens of facilities just to understand which providers have more complete publicly available information. By analyzing public records and computing our proprietary Public-Record Provider Score (PPS), we filter and index local care providers so you can make informed decisions.

The Public-Record Provider Score (PPS) Methodology

To protect families from the stress of navigating endless options during difficult times, FuneralRank doesn't just list providers—we analyze them. Our data framework processes thousands of public records across the nation to calculate a data-based provider score (from 0 to 100) for local locations.

Our scoring formula is designed to be comprehensive and transparent. We synthesize public data—ranging from state licensing compliance records and public pricing transparency (GPL), to the breadth of specialized amenities like on-site crematories, live-streaming, and grief support. We also aggregate localized community sentiment to provide a broad view of public feedback.
